Theoretical Approach

Having trained in the Person-Centred approach with many years’ experience, I provide a safe and trusting environment where clients can talk freely and be really listened to. By offering certain therapeutic conditions, I accept the client for who they are and do not make judgements on them. In this space it can make it possible to develop self-acceptance where changes can be achieved. Getting up and living daily lives can be overwhelming for some people if they are experiencing, for example, stress, bereavement, relationship difficulties. Everything gets “on top of them” and they struggle to function – I aim to help support clients grow in confidence and find their own way forward.

Experience as a Counsellor

Since 2007 I have developed my ongoing Private Practice. Affiliate Counsellor with Working Health Services from 2010 to 2018. Employed as NHS Counsellor between 2004 and 2020 working within a Mental Health Team, as well as previously in this time within GP practices and 11 years within Learning Disabilities Team. Provided counselling to adult and young carers between July 2008 and November 2010. Between September 2004 and June 2006 I offered counselling to 11-17 year olds at local secondary school.

Provision of Training

I have provided “effective listening skills” and “loss and bereavement awareness” training to organisations that might require this for their staff. This training is usually aimed at professionals working in caring roles. However, packages can be adapted to suit particular needs.

My fee for individual counselling is £45 per hour. Organisations – fee by arrangement. Counselling supervision is provided at £45 per hour for qualified practitioners. If 90 minutes' supervision is required, the charge is £65. The fee for trainee practitioners is £40 per hour.
